Resources for Neurodiverse Relationships and Healthy Personal Boundaries

Healthy Personal Boundaries

Since 2008, I have been dedicated to teaching the importance of healthy personal boundaries. My passion lies in empowering individuals to establish and maintain boundaries that foster respect, self-worth, and positive relationships.

What is a healthy personal boundary?

  • Limit setting that "protects" a person from being a victim
  • Limit setting that "contains" a person so that one is not offensive to others

What can I learn about healthy personal boundaries?

  • Purpose and components of personal boundaries
  • Ground rules for avoiding "the blame game"
  • Ground rules for avoiding boundary violations
  • The essential goal of communication
  • What is at the center of troubled relationships
  • Dysfunctional vs. functional containment
  • The key boundary violation that destroys intimacy
  • Manipulation's toxicity
  • Ground rules for talking to others
  • Formats for using the talking and listening boundary
  • Ground rules for listening to others
  • The role of protection in listening
  • How to regulate your vulnerability and emotions
  • The five rules of listening
  • The number one cause of not being able to listen
  • Resentment's toxicity

Neurodiversity

Neurodiversity is a paradigm that celebrates the natural diversity of the human brain and the unique ways individuals experience and interact with the world. It recognizes that neurological differences, such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other cognitive variations, are natural expressions of human diversity rather than defects or disorders. Embracing neurodiversity means valuing and respecting these differences, fostering a more inclusive and understanding society.

Neurodiverse Relationships

In the context of neurodivergent couples counseling, neurodiversity challenges the notion of a "one-size-fits-all" approach to couples counseling. It encourages us to appreciate and celebrate the unique strengths and perspectives that each partner brings, fostering an environment of understanding, acceptance, and collaboration. By embracing neurodiversity, we can create more meaningful and resilient relationships built on mutual respect and empathy.
